Celebrate the Good

I spend most of my church meetings in the hallway with Monkey.  I poke in and out sometimes and get bits and pieces of lessons, which isn't all bad, I can take what I get, add some of my own thoughts and end up with just the message I needed.

During yesterday's lesson we watched Celebrate What's Right With The World, a video by National Geographic photographer Dewitt Jones.  I caught the tail end of it as well as the teacher's follow-up thoughts.  The title pretty much says it all, Mr. Jones says people should look for possibilities, and focus on the positive.  The teacher brought a stuffed dinosaur that after some mending will be a lovely gift.  She brought a tablecloth that, after it's rehemmed, no one would ever guess it was once torn.  Wonderful lessons in frugality, but also a terrific metaphor for life.

Every struggle, every tragedy can host a shred of good, if you only look for it.  A opportunity for growth, lessons to learn, a chance to serve, or a chance to humble yourself and allow others to serve you.  It's there, but your mind needs to find it.

Life isn't easy, but make everyday a celebration and look for what is right and each day will be that much more enjoyable.
