You may have already heard this bit of news, but Stephanie Nielsen (who blogs at Nie Nie Dialogues) and her husband Christian were in a plane crash a few weeks ago.  Gabrielle Blair (who blogs at Design Mom) designated this past Thursday as Nie Nie Day and in honor, hundreds of silent auctions were started around the blogosphere to raise money for medical bills and such.  I encourage you to visit Design Mom to see a list of auctions and perhaps bid on something, many auctions continue through Sunday if not longer.

I totally spaced it last week, but I did participate in the Make it From Scratch Carnival.  It was hosted at Life On Both Sides of the Pond and included my article on making tomato sauce.  Go check it out!  I'm thinking I may try this recipe for zucchini pancakes sometime.

Here's some posts I enjoyed this week:

What My Parents Taught Me About Money (@Moolanomy) - These aren't only great money lessons, but wonderful life lessons as well.

Create Inexpensive Art for Your Home (@Blissfully Domestic) - A great idea for jazzing up your walls without spending a lot.

What Do You Take If Your House is on Fire? (@Small Notebook) - Something you don't want to think about but probably should.

10 Truths About Frugal Living Revealed by 5000 Reader Comments (@Frugal Dad) - Some good insights into what frugality means.

Are Stay at Home Parents Setting Themselves Up For a Big Fall These Days? (@My Investing Blog) - Some good food for thought, staying at home with children is a wonderful thing, but it is important to be prepared.

Have a terrific weekend!
