this wasn't in the plan |but life is still pretty good

Thank you. Financially you were a pretty good month, I must say. The car insurance came due, but we were ready. I can't sing the praises of a sinking fund enough. We've set aside what we estimate will be the amount of money spent on car related expenses for the year, and pull from it as needed. But because you brought us three paychecks, we didn't even need to pull from that account. And even if you wouldn't have brought an extra paycheck, we wouldn't have had to pull out too much.

You brought a need for new shoes for the kids, but you also made sure there were some sales to help out with that. You didn't bring any great grocery sales (please let your friend September know that I'd love a fab sale on cereal), but still we stayed within budget. You brought some high temps, so the electricity bill was high, but you also brought lots of rain, so the water bill wasn't too bad.

August 2008, we'll always remember you as the month in which we first gave Bug an allowance. The month where money started to make sense to him.
