May Wrap-Up

I had such high hopes for May. May was going to be a great month, everything was going to follow the budget and go according to plan, if you will. And it did... for a few days. Luckily we received our stimulus check and a check from The Tall One's grandpa to reimburse us for some of the cost of our plane tickets to a family reunion. Our not normal stuff included paying to change our plane tickets, graduation gifts, gas for a long drive, and purchasing gift cards for the grocery store. Some of the extra from this month went to our car emergency fund which brings that up to where it should be (meaning that based on previous years, there's enough money in that account to pay for any car mishap we may have), the rest is just chilling in the checking account for now.
As far as money paid to grocery stores this past month, I went way over since I purchased $600 worth of gift cards (and got a 10% bonus). Including what was spent using my gift cards and the money I spent at other stores, I spent a number that I don't remember and am too lazy to look up, but it was right around $220 and just a few dollars more than I had wanted to spend (since we were out of two for a few days).
June will be a good month, it just has to be.
